Examining Woolworths Everyday Money Credit card

The Woolworths Everyday Money Credit card got my attention as it was offerin 10c / L off any purchase from epumps at Caltex Woolworths petrol stations but only till 30 June 2009. What got me to sign up was the extra $50 shopping card if you applied and used your card before 30 April 2009.

Anyway, let's have a look at the rewards for this Everyday Money Card. The Terms and Conditions eventually tell you that you need to spend 3,448 points to get a $20 shopping voucher.

EDIT: The points program has changed in November 2011. Now it takes 4,000 points to earn the $20 shopping voucher.

How many points do you earn?

3 points for every dollar spent on Woolworths Select products purchased at Woolworths or Safeway Supermarkets, excluding online purchases

2 points for every dollar spent on other products purchased at Woolworths or Safeway Supermarkets, BIG W, CALTEX WOOLWORTHS/SAFEWAY co-branded fuel outlets, epump, Woolworths/Safeway Liquor, Dick Smith PowerHouse and participating Dick Smith Electronics and Tandy stores. (*)

1 point for every dollar spent on other products (*).

This translates into

$1 spent at non-Woolworths companies = 0.6c or 0.6% return in value  0.5c or 0.5% return in value
$1 spent at Woolworths affiliated companies = 1.2c or 1.2% return in value 1c or 1% return in value
